Konrad Becker - Grand Piano Classics 2 CD $21.00

Konrad Becker - Grand Piano Classics 2 CD $21.00

“Preserved for posterity as four-track tape recordings, Konrad Becker’s Piano Concertos for 4 Pianos have finally crossed the digital divide. While the man behind the music has been anything but listless, these recordings have until now, laid fallow for upwards of 25 years, making this the first release of his acoustic music. Originally used for the performance series Program for the 100% Resocialization of the Devil in 1982-83 and the experimental opera Parzival in 1984, the pieces are redolent with low-end perfumes, thick metallic fogs, and percussive walls of splendor. The simultaneous play of four roaring pianos creates music rife with subterfuge and illusion.” -Brainwashed

Chrystal Belle Scrodd - Belle de Jour $20.00

Chrystal Belle Scrodd - Belle de Jour $20.00

An associate of London experimentalists Nurse With Wound and the wife of that outfit’s Steven Stapleton, vocalist Chrystal Belle Scrodd (real name: Diane Rogerson) released The Inevitable Chrystal Belle Scrodd Record in 1985 on United Dairies. A second album, Belle de Jour, followed the next year.” ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide.

A re-issue of this gorgeous orchestral drone piece with deliciously eerie overtones and slightly unsettling artwork. file under: orchestral-drone, experimental.

Maurizio Bianchi - Elisionem $20.00

Maurizio Bianchi - Elisionem $20.00

“Wholly electronic in origin, the music on this collection of drone- and loop-based pieces is dramatic and forbidding. The hypnotic, serpentine repetitions of “Proteic Suppression” are reminiscent of Zoviet France, while “Syllabic Microbes” is quieter and more mysterious, until a series of harsh metallic stabs upsets the track’s equilibrium. At 24 minutes, “Elliptic Iontophoresis” is the longest and most effective piece on the album. Microscopically detailed in texture, its soundworld begins with high and low end drones that give way to grating clashes, stricken movements and a gradual ratcheting up of tension. Finally, the drama retreats into a sense of relative calm, with swirling astral patterns and periodic bursts of activity. Whatever its scientific basis, this is a very fine album of dark ambient atmospherics.” – Viennese Waltz

Blackhouse - We Will Fight Back! $20.00

Blackhouse - We Will Fight Back! $20.00

Originally issued in 1988, Blackhouse aka Brian Ladd writes in the re-issue liner notes, “I recorded the original sessions for WE WILL FIGHT BACK! in 1988. Due to time constraints some songs had to be dropped from the LP version. Now, years later my ideas are finally being presented the way they were intended to be heard” Blackhouse is a Christian industrial band and plays what has been cited as “primo industrial rock”, contrasting with post-industrial styles promulgated by artists such as NIN, Klank, or Circle of Dust Blackhouse was formed in 1983 and is cited as the first band to make industrial music for the Christian market.

Various Artists w/ Cadaverous Condition - Destroying the Night Sky $20.00

Various Artists w/ Cadaverous Condition - Destroying the Night Sky $20.00

Cadaverous Condition started off as a grindcore/death metal band and subsequently changed their style to ‘death folk’. The Klanggalerie label approached various artists like Nocturnal Emissions, Andrew Liles, and Thighpaulsandra to re-interpret the music of Cadaverous Condition. Destroying the Night Sky is not exactly a remix as the source material is still identifiable, rather a set of ‘what if’ scenarios should the band explore other musical styles such as dark ambient, unplugged acoustic, and experimental. Sometimes amusing, but more often enjoyable for both enthusiasts of hardcore and avante-music.

Cultural Amnesia - Enormous Savages $20.00

Cultural Amnesia - Enormous Savages $20.00

A re-issue of early material by Cultural Amnesia between 1981-1983 along with a handful of post 2000 tracks. As the samples above will attest, the music is catchy synth and drum machine driven post-punk and a real gem in the trove of Fathom. Cultural Amnesia (CA) are an English post-punk group first active between 1979 and 1983 as participants in the so-called cassette culture of the late ’70s and early ’80s in the UK. During this first period the band released three cassette albums: Video Rideo (1981), The Uncle of the Boot (1983) and Sinclair’s Luck (1983) on English and German labels and contributed to a number of compilations. Very early on in his career CA worked with the late Geff Rushton (John Balance) of Coil, who wrote a handful of songs for them and who was an important supporter and enabler. Working in the wake of the early industrial bands, CA’s output is very diverse, ranging from ambient soundscapes to synthpop, but it can be broadly characterized as song-based electronic music, normally making use of synthesizer, drum machine and guitar.

Graf + Zyx - Trust No Woman Plus (1977-86) $20.00

Graf + Zyx - Trust No Woman Plus (1977-86) $20.00

Klanggalerie re-issues a retrospective of music by Austria, Vienna-based synth-pop duo Inge Graf and Walter Zyx (Graf + Zyx) with some 24 tracks of restored material. In the late 1970s GRAF+ZYX committed themselves to the “aestheticisation of everyday life“ in all fields of a cross-culture. Their works with video, computer, laser, web design and programming, photography, graphic design, video sculpture, and music are visually influenced by Pop Art, Constructivism, Futurism, Dadaism and contemporary design, and musically rooted in Beat and Electronic Rock of the 60s and 70s, Free Jazz and classical modern music, whereas the lyrics in English – always composed and interpreted by GRAF+ZYX themselves – resemble obscure, existentialist dialogues. When required, voice modulation transforms the lyrics into a linguistically indefinable echoism.

Andrew Liles - Somnambulance to Dream General $20.00

Andrew Liles - Somnambulance to Dream General $20.00

A varied, often eerie or downright creepy album loaded with audio samples, instrumental fragments, unsettling ambiance and abstract sounds or disturbing drone. Andrew Liles is a UK based sound artist, multi-instrumentalist and experimental musician. He has a vast output of recordings that he has released since the mid 1980’s. Liles has been recording since the mid 80’s. His music, which both eclectic and diverse is often minimalist, surrealistic, experimental and hypnotic, and attempts to transcend any noticeable style or clique. He is also a member of Nurse with Wound.

The Pump - The Pump $20.00

The Pump - The Pump $20.00

Before starting Nocturnal Emissions, Nigel Ayers had a band called “The Pump”. They released two cassettes in tiny editions only, and some tracks were recently included in the Vinyl-on-Demand NE box set. Now, we are proud to present you the collected works of this Nocturnal Emissions blueprint for the first time ever on CD. Carefully remastered by Nigel Ayers in 2009, this collections shows the many different sides to The Pump. Classic Industrial meets Avantgarde, hints of TG and the Cabs are there, and it’s clear how these tracks lead to what was later to be “Tissue of Lies”. A retro-feel reminiscent of early Negativland and emerging power electronics bands.

The Reformed Faction of Zoviet France $20.00

The Reformed Faction of Zoviet France $20.00

Andy Eardley, Mark Spybey, and Robin Storey re-unite to bring you this wondrous work of ambient-drone and electro-acoustic psychedelia, an excursion into darker ethereal realms. Cinematic, lush sounding, with ethno-tribal overtones and a slightly unsettling feeling. Twelve tracks and over an hour of explorations into the Reformed Faction of Soviet France.

Scattered Order - Pratt Culture Plus $20.00

Scattered Order - Pratt Culture Plus $20.00

A superb re-issue of post-punk/new wave/experimental/no-wave music by Scattered Order culled from several 12 inches from 1881 to 1982 with bonus tracks and live recordings. Scattered Order was a post punk band based in Sydney, Australia. They were formed in 1979, and initially comprised Mitch Jones (who remained the only original member in the band’s many subsequent incarnations), Michael Tee, and Simon Vidale. The lineup would change often throughout the eighties and nineties. However, it would appear that there has been little to no activity by the group since 2000.

The Inevitable Chrystal Belle Scrodd Record $20.00

The Inevitable Chrystal Belle Scrodd Record $20.00

“Utilising the varied & considerable talents of, amongst ohers, Karl Blake (of SHOCK-HEADED PETERS infamy), the enigmatic Robert Haigh, Tathata Wallis and Sema, and working with the assistance of the much-acclaimed Steven Stapleton, Diana Rogerson (of NURSE WITH WOUND) has nurtured a truly remarkable record which is already being hailed by those who have heard it.At present working exclusively in the realm of sound, Rogerson first came to light as an “underground” film maker. Her work has been screened at the London Film Makers’ Co-Op, I.C.A., Brixton Ritzy, Air Gallery and Sheffield & Hornsey Art Colleges, meeting with widespread acclaim. A video release by CABARET VOLTAIRE’s “DOUBLEVISION” label of an anthology of these films is planned for the future. In 1981 she founded FISTFUCK (and later “The Whore”). These uncompromising live acts, working in the area of sex & sleaze, were loud, provocative, extreme, dangerous and funny: sexual parodies were performed to stunned audiences throughout London’s nightclubs and galleries, engendering much controversy and accruing a large & loyal following in the process. This could have been another Nurse With Wound record, typical ambientdada with rhythmic drumming, a stunning record. The Inevitable Chrystal Belle Scrodd Record came out on United Dairies (UD017) in 1985. Re-released on klanggalerie (gg101)”- The Thing on the Doorstep

Sleepchamber - Sorcery, Spells & Serpent Chambers $20.00

Sleepchamber - Sorcery, Spells & Serpent Chambers $20.00

Despite the occult cover, this is actually a very good electronic/ambient/ebm-flavored release where Sleep Chamber purport each track to be a spell or charm. Formed by John Zewizz around 1980, Sleep Chamber has had a wide assortment of members, and performed a wide variety of music. Very early works were very experimental in nature, with elements of musique concrete. Shortly thereafter Sleep Chamber was recording ritual/ambient music, which continued into the early 1990s. In the mid-1980s the band also began working with more electro/EBM material, often meshed with their ritual works. This trend generally continued and took on additional rock-oriented dimensions in the 1990s.

Spring Aus Den Wolken - Dub & Die $20.00

Sprung Aus Den Wolken - Dub & Die $20.00

A re-issue of an album originally released in 1981 on Zickzack records. Berlin-based Sprung Aus Den Wolken were part of the “Geniale Dilletanten”-movement in the early 80’s along with Einstürzende Neubauten and M.D.K. They made a couple of records on their own Faux Pas and Les Disques Du Soleil Et De L’Acier. Their song “Pas Attendre” was used on Wim Wenders’ “Wings of Desire” movie and became some kind of underground hit. Founder Kiddy Citny is also a painter. His paintings on the Berlin Wall have been exhibited through the world and are now in private collections in the USA, France, and Japan.

Thighpaulsandra - The Clisto Ep $10.00

Thighpaulsandra - The Clisto Ep $10.00

Thighpaulsandra (Tim Lewis) is a Welsh experimental musician known mostly for performing on synthesizers and keyboards. As Tim Lewis, he began his career working with Julian Cope. A collaboration with Cope in 1993 followed, as the experimental duo Queen Elizabeth. This project completed just the two albums, ‘Queen Elizabeth’ (ESP Records 1994) and ‘Elizabeth Vagina’ (Head Heritage 1997), each containing extremely long spacey tracks of between 20–47 minutes in duration. In 1997, former Cope guitarist Mike Mooney invited Lewis to fill for the departing Kate Radley on a Spiritualized tour, where he remained until early 2008. He later joined the experimental band Coil. He has subsequently released several solo albums. The Clisto EP has four tracks that total over 20 minutes of experimental/drone and spacey-melodic synth tunes.

Peter Hope & The Jonathan S. Podmore Method - Dry Hip Rotation $20.00

A re-issue of a rare album originally released in 1986. This band consisted of Jono Podmore who nowadays records with Kumo and collaborates with Can’s Irmin Schmidt, Alan Fish of Hula, and Charlie Collins of The Box and Clock DVA. Also included in this reissue is “The Kitchenette” 12 inch.
